In response to your message of Wed Nov 2 13:26:54 1983: I disagree with the assessment of FLESH GORDON. I've seen the 72-minute (standard R version) cut a number of times and have found it only intermittently funny. I saw an X version (~85 minutes--I'm told the original was over 90) at Seacon and concluded that they'd simply cut out chunks of fairly raw sex to make the R version; specific scenes included Flash in the Swan boat, Dale with the lesbian pirates, and retrieving something (power pasty?) Wang hid in the nearest courtesan. The last in particular was not cut with an eye for continuity, and two of the above three scenes had potential (especially since even the long version was not concentrated on actual intercourse exclusively), but the overall effect was to make the movie much tighter. As for eroticism, it's possible while being funny but \\very// difficult while being satirical, which FG was most of the time.
