[net.movies] Dead Zone

I saw the Dead Zone last night. It seemed to only movie to be worth $2.50.
Anyway, it surpised me. It was better than I expected. It wasn't quite as
scarry as I expected but it did have a plot. I'd say that for the person
that doen't feel up to Fanny and Alexander and doesn't feel like going so
far down to the latest R rated teen fick, it is a great choice.
It was a new plot. I have seen the same type of stories repeated many times,
but I haven't seen this story much. I would have payed $4.00 for it, now
that I know that it is good.
I don't want to ruin the movie, so I won't say anything about the plot
other than it is a story that deals with the sixth sense, a sad love affair,
and a persons fullfillment.

I've read the book by Stephen King and enjoyed it very much, which is
why I'm leery about the movie. I'd like to hear from someone who has
read the book AND seen the movie. I was terribly dissapointed with
The Shining because I had read the book first and thought the book was
GREAT! The movie had none of the thrilling suspense and terror of the
book. Perhaps seeing the movie FIRST is better; then I might have enjoyed
it more.

If you have read the book, don't go see the Dead Zone, you'll be
disappointed. The movie is nothing like the book! But what movie
ever is?

I thought the movie was good. Then again, I did not read the book.
If the movie is like the book, then I get dissappointed because I know
what is going to happen (unless it is a really good story that I could
read/watch over and over). If the movie is not like the book, then
I am dissappointed because I did not see what I expected. I try and not
expect things from movies anymore. I just let it go its own way and see
if I can enjoy it for what it is.
