First I've heard of the upgrade plans being extended, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were. Most of these upgrades are available from AT&T National Parts (NPSC) at 1-800-222-PART so you might want to try calling there. Fixes...well we seem to be finding more things that it fixes everyday. The things I know about are : o you can DMA over 16 MB if you happen to have that much RAM and devices/drivers that really use DMA o you can run VGA on it (ie, you can't use VGA on any previous release of AT&T 386 Unix) o adds a console key-click feature o fixes a problem with large capacity drives that use the WD 1007A controllers with translation (keeps the bad block table from getting filled almost instantaneously) o there's a new xt/layers driver so you can run simultask under layers o maybe others ??? The VGA comment shouldn't be construed as VGA support; X WIN and most everything else still only runs in EGA modes. Without 3.2u though, you don't even get 80x25 text if you have a VGA card installed. -- Frank McGee, AT&T Tier 3 Indirect Channel Sales Support attmail!fmcgee

I have been champing at the bit for two months and just got the news today, but I don't have a comcode for it yet. It's $65 I think. PS I think this takes the form up an upgrade to the X End User package but I'm not sure. -- Tom Neff UUCP: ...!uunet!bfmny0!tneff "Truisms aren't everything." Internet: tneff@bfmny0.UU.NET

Through a deal here at work i am getting a 6386E and SVR3.2 and the software development system. (I am getting all this for half price, new from the wherever, and "offically AT&T" whatever that intails)... My question: Will this include the X stuff and the VGA support (since I am getting the VGA monitor/board) and all that, or am I going to have to pay extra? ob.

I am answering this via followup since it may be of interest to others. The following (among others) are separately supplied line items from AT&T: V/386 3.2 Foundation Set Software Development Set Extended Terminal Interface X Windows End User System X Windows Programmers Toolkit etc etc etc. I don't have the order numbers or comcodes handy at the moment. If Robert has what he says he has, he will have to order X separately. Most importantly I should mention that X will NOT WORK with the VGA right this minute! Nor will V/386 3.2 unless one gets the 2.1 Upgrade. The VGA/X upgrade (to X) is due out either in a week or a month, depending on who you ask. -- Tom Neff UUCP: ...!uunet!bfmny0!tneff "Truisms aren't everything." Internet: tneff@bfmny0.UU.NET

UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Version 2.1 (also know as the 3.2 Upgrade) contains: 1 - Greater than 16 Meg DMA (if you have more than 16 meg installed, this is a good feature). 2 - VGA / VDC 600 support 3 - Console Key-Click features 4 - Lost Inode fix Sincerely, John Urban
