[comp.sys.att] Fan Replacement

tanya@adds.newyork.NCR.COM (Tanya Katz) (06/02/89)

After recent discussions I am seriously considering replacing my
3b1 fan.

Last night, while working at home, it was quite warm and the
fan suddenly sounded like it was revving up. Then after a minute or two,
it seemed to slow down to the normal whirring. It did this two different
times.

I mentioned this to my son, who said he heard this and
he confirmed that it was also a hot night when it happened to him.

Someone at work asked if the fan is thermostatically controlled??
	Anyone know?

Is this a warning signal of a possible problem??

Yes, it is.

No. This is normal operation of the fan.

Disturbing the first time you notice it, yes? :-)
