From: Jef Poskanzer <Poskanzer.PA@PARC-MAXC.ARPA> Say, did anybody watch the TV-movie Tuesday night about Commodore Peary and Dr. Scott? WHAT A PIECE OF TRASH! Unfair, one-sided, technically inaccurate, etc. etc. etc. I cracked up when Scott says he is at "94 degrees north latitude". Richard Chamberlin was pretty good. But he was better as Anjin-San. I'm not sorry I watched - now I have an incentive to go to a library and find out the REAL story. --- Jef

"I'm not sorry I watched - now I have an incentive to go to a library and find out the REAL story." Jef, I didn't watch the movie, but I understand that it's got almost nothing to do with the book, except (maybe) the title. The movie emphasized the race to the Pole, while the book dealt with how Dr. Scott's career was ruined by a malicious press. Richard

From: Jef Poskanzer <Poskanzer.PA@PARC-MAXC.ARPA> Oops. I seem to have confused myself a bit. As Fasnacht.pa pointed out, the movie was not about Robert Scott, but was about Dr. Fredrick Cook. It was still trashy, though. --- Jef
