Though I had hopes of avoiding UniForum, pressure has been building for me to put in an "appearance", so the probability is gradually increasing that I will indeed show up. I'm still willing to bring some tapes along, assuming we can find a Beta machine and a suitable place for their screening. (I know there are U-MATIC machines around, but I really don't want to lug those big carts across the country.) I will plan to bring along my "miscellaneous" tapes which have all sorts of interesting and bizarre items included, but I need some input regarding what other tapes to bring. Here is a list of tapes from which I'm willing to select: 1) Plan 9 From Outer Space / The Creeping Terror -- 2 classic SF turkeys 2) Harold and Maude -- The cult favorite about the relationship between a young man obsessed with death and a free-spirited 80 year-old woman. 3) The Rocky Horror Picture Show -- Let's do the time warp again... need I say more? 4) The King of Hearts -- Cult classic regarding a World War I soldier who finds himself in a town run by escapees from the local insane asylum. 5) Flesh Gordon -- The famous adult-oriented satire of the Flash Gordon serials. 6) The Producers -- Mel Brooks' first feature film -- a classic which introduced the song "Springtime For Hitler". 7) The President's Analyst -- James Coburn's flight from government agencies and even MORE powerful entities. 8) The Stunt Man -- Another cult classic. The tale of a tyrannical film director (Peter O'Toole) and his "captive" stunt man. 9) The Wicker Man -- The bizarre tale of "religious" practices on a British island. I can't really say more about it without ruining the plot, but it's great. 10) Dr. Strangelove -- Stanley Kubrick's masterful satirical look at an accidental nuclear war. All of these films are classics in their own right. All are among my favorite films of all time. If you plan to attend Uniforum and would like to attend a screening of some of these tapes, please send me DIRECT MAIL picking four (4) from the above list. I will use the tabulated results to determine which tapes I'll bring. This is your opportunity not only to see some classic films which may be among your favorites, but also to possibly see a film which you've heard of but never had a chance to see. Screenings will be free, of course (given the necessary equipment...) --Lauren-- {allegra, ihnp4, decvax, harpo, seismo, randvax}!vortex!lauren
