One of our many unix pc's seems to be biting the dust: On power up, only little sqares appear accross screen - as it searches in vain for HD? A boot from floppy boot disk fails when it asks for insertion of disk 3 of 12 -(floppy file system under 3.5 not 3.51) - with HDERR (I don't have message here - looks like early tracks). Is there a way to boot from floppy without trying to read HD? All we want to do at the moment is to read off some files from the hard disk. More detailed repair might follow. (I couldn't remember instructions for opening case to check out the connections etc., so a summary of those would also help.) Thanks.
