I am finally getting around to replacing our 3B1 STARLAN DOS server runing STARLAN V2.0 with a 6386/25 running all of the newest stuff including V3.0 of STARLAN. One of the features of version 3.0 that interests me is the ability to run part of the redirector program in expanded memory on the DOS clients. This gives a bigger TPA, which is very welcome with the 120K-plus size of the redirection program. So far, so good, but several of the clients on the LAN are 6300 and 6300 Plus machines. These machines have 16-bit memory using a special Olivetti/AT&T bus, and expanded memory cards for these machines are not a dime a dozen. If somebody would give me a run-down of my options for adding expanded memory to these machines I would appreciate it. Is version 3.2 of the EMS spec good enough for STARLAN 3.0? Are there any EMS 4.0 drivers available? Also helpful would be pointers to inexpensive sources. And, if anyone has any used boards they are anxious to get rid of, send me some mail!
