My favorite JN scene is in "The Last Detail". He, his black partner, and their prisoner (all sailors) walk into a bar. The bartender makes a bigoted remark and refuses to serve them. They complain loudly, and the bartender threatens to call the shore patrol. Nicholson pulls out his service revolver, slams it down on the bar, and yells "I AM the fucking shore patrol!"
