"The Golden Turkey Awards" by Harry and Michael Medved, a book on dismal
movies was published a few years ago. It's quite funny -- awards are in such
categories as, Worst Picture of All Time, Worst Musical Extravaganza,
and Worst Performance by an Actor or Actress as a Clergyman or Nun.
I enjoy the book throughly, but one thing is eating at me -- the authors say
at the outset that one of the movies described in the book is a complete
sham -- entirely made-up. Being only a fan of and not an expert on bad movies,
I am hard pressed to figure out which it is. The best guesses I can make are
"Billy Jack Goes to Washington," which I don't remember hearing about, and
"Dog of Norway," starring Muki the Wonder Hound. I would love to hear from
anybody who has seen these and can eliminate them as possibilities. Better
yet, has someone read the book and figured out which movie is the fake?
Finally, if "Dog of Norway" does exist, it would allow a good double bill
with one of the nominees for Worst Musical Extravaganza, "Song of Norway,"
with Florence Henderson. Can you just see it?
