There is a scene which was cut from the movie. Supe's father helps him get his powers back. However, the famous actor who played his father (whose name I should be able to remember, but can't) wanted more money or better billing or something. The result of the contract dispute, which took place AFTER the film was all shot ("Superman" and "Superman II" were shot as one film, but released a year apart), was that his parts were cut out. The only noticeable loss of continuity was when he gets his powers back. Superman picks up the green crystal, screams "FATHER!", and then we cut to Metropolis without ever seeing his father appear and solve the problem. -- Barry Margolin ARPA: barmar@MIT-Multics UUCP: ..!genrad!mit-eddie!barmar

Superman's father was, of course, Marlon Brando. From what I understand, a lot of good parts were cut from Supe II 'cause of Jor-El's contract dispute, including, I believe, an explanation of why Superman had to become human to date Lois.
