[comp.sys.att] wd1010/2010 no longer available...

mvadh@cbnews.att.com (andrew.d.hay) (09/06/90)

i just learned (well, late last night actually) that western digital
has shut down their 3 micron fab line, and with it ended *ALL*
production of the wd1010, wd2010, wd50c12, and assorted related chips.
they've made an 'end-of-life' run, so there will (presumably) be a
large stock of chips for a while...

were/are there any second sources for these chips?

should we start hoarding/scrounging?

are we just sol?

intel might be a second source -- the ic master shows their 82064 as
equivalent to the wd2010.
