I recently replaced an AT&T 479 printer with a Panasonic printer on our 3b2/400. The problem: Centronics line 14 is always low coming from the 3b2. Panasonic assumes that if centronics line 14 (auto-line feed) is low, it should add a LF after every CR. Result: double spaced print outs. Is there a simple solution to this? Could it be shared? thx email please slimick@unix.cis.pitt.edu john slimick university of pittsburgh at bradford bradford pa

Result: double spaced print outs. I once had similar problems with a NEC-860 "laser" and an NCR Tower-32. The solution was to either cut line 14, or cross connect it somewhere else, though I don't remember the exact details. -- Greg A. Why not just edit the interface program (It's somewhere in /usr/spool/lp.) and add a line like 'stty -ocrnl'? If you need to know specifics, send me mail and I'll look it up in my manual when I'm back at work. Joe Ziegler AT&T Bell Laboratories West Long Branch, New Jersey att!mtunf!ziegler
