#N:inmet:6500035:000:592 inmet!bobo Mar 8 16:17:00 1984 As I can remember from my comic book days, The reason for Superman's secret identity was so that he could not be blackmailed into using his powers for the forces of evil (by said force threatening or controlling his loved ones). By marrying Lois and keeping his powers he would have the same sort of problem. If the marriage were known, Bad Guys could use him through Lois. Even if the marriage were kept secret there would be too great a risk that somehow it would be found out. Mark Friedman ...harpo!inmet!bobo ...esquire!inmet!bobo ...ima!inmet!bobo

Everyone knows that Supes and Lois are an item. There's also Jimmy Olsen and half of Metropolis. In fact, Superman is so concerned for human life that just about anyone would do. -- Barry Margolin ARPA: barmar@MIT-Multics UUCP: ..!genrad!mit-eddie!barmar
