A little bit of elaboration ... `Puberty Blues' is a film by Bruce Beresford (`Breaker Morant', `Tender Mercies') about a couple of teenaged girls growing up in an Australian city. In order to be `in', they have to be accepted by the wild, good-fer-nuthin' surfin' crowd. They get into trouble at school, mess around with boys, smoke drugs and get sick on booze. There's nothing new and original here. There isn't even anything old but timeless. I think you could write this script during the commercials while you watch `American Graffiti' on television for the tenth time. I didn't stay until the closing credits wound completely off the last reel (like I usually do) so I didn't notice the year it was made. The poster said 1983, but I think that was the year Universal picked it up for North American distribution. I *can't* believe that Beresford made this bit of nonsense the same year he did `Tender Mercies'. If anyone knows for certain, please mail me. Thanks. Oscar Nierstrasz
