Hmmm, someone just referred me to Usenet's news.lists.general and it seems that unix-pc.* has made some significant inroads during the past 2 weeks. Seems that even I made the "Top 25 Posters" list; wonder why? :-) It's clear from Brian Reid's stats that should unix-pc.* be in the mainstream as a comp.* group that it'd be a signifcant newsgroup (at least that's the way I interpret his postings). Informally received information here indicates we're getting a LOT of converts to the 3B1 from other computers (IBM-PCs, Macs, Amigas, and a few others) plus a rising interest by college and university students who need an "affordable" UNIX box that runs reasonably fast. Veddy, veddy inneresting. It DEFINITELY appears there's a huge, untapped market for low-priced and reliable UNIX systems. I wonder if AT&T's gonna be sorry they dropped the 3B1/UNIXPC/PC7300 because it seems that NOW is the time they should be selling them. I'm now getting 5-10 phone calls a DAY from people asking where they can buy these systems. Thad Floryan [ thad@cup.portal.com ]

To make a long story short, I traded the 386sx for a 7300/3b1 ( upgraded machine ) and a 3b2-310. I thought I was going to use the 3b1 for a door stop and the 3b2 for learning Unix internals. Well, it is the other way around. The 3b2 is the door stop ( Forsale too! ) and the 3b1 is up 24 hours. I love this machine. I don't even miss Win/3 or all my .gifs. Had a few problems with it, but ever since its last Mass dust bunny kill, not a single problem. ================================== Paul J. Giovacchini | My file system is in such bad shape...
