Heart Like a Wheel was released several months ago but I just saw it. It is a film biography of Shirley Muldowny, one of very few female professional drag racing drivers, and the only person to have won 3 years' NHRA Top Fuel championships. I liked the movie and found the racing scenes very exciting. Question on the facts in the movie - did Shirley really set a track record for the her car's class the first time she broke the beams at an NHRA event? This is how it was shown in the movie, but I find it hard to believe. Unless she had run the dragster-bodied car on the street, it was supposed to be the first pass the car had ever made. Sorry to run all this Hot Rod Mag prose past net.movies readers, but there is no net.sport.auto, as near as I can tell.
