From: Jef Poskanzer <Poskanzer.PA@Xerox.ARPA> According to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle this morning, the Oscar telecast tonight will show David Niven's famous ad lib after a streaker had just dashed across the Music Center stage: "Isn't it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off his clothes and showing his shortcomings." However, Oscar Producer Jack Haley Jr. says that it wasn't an ad lib after all: "I was the producer that year, and I remember seeing David in the back of the theater at rehearsals, preparing remarks for any occasion. If the Seventh Cavalry had charged down the aisle, David would have had a comment ready. Streaking was the rage that year, so I know David was prepared for it. I always wanted to ask what he would have said if the streaker had been a woman." !!! --- Jef
