I have an AT&T 319 color (CGA-style) monitor that I used to use with a 6386 with the VDC-400 video card. I am now interested in connecting it to a Compaq Portable 386, which has a DB-9 CGA interface port. Unfortunately, the cable on the monitor is a 25 pin DB-25, which matches the VDC-400 card fine, but not the standard 9 pin CGA port. Has anyone ever built an adaptor cable for this? Or is there some reason that this will not work (e.g. the monitor expects some signal from the video card that is not supplied from a standard CGA interface)? This is not one of the AT&T monitors that gets its power from the video card (though the same video card can be used to drive those monitors - I assume that's why we have the 25 pin interface).
