[comp.sys.att] Vi problems on ATT 3B2/600

We have an ATT 3B2/600 and whenever we loginto in from across the 
network, using vi is a real pain. Moving the cursor up and down causes 
errors due to lost escape sequences. (ie using vt100 TERM variable).
For example, the escape character will be lost from the cursor sequence 
<esc>OB, causing the editor to open a new line and insert the letter B. 
This does not happen on our UCB flavour machines, only the System V ones. 
Anyone have a clue. (Note: the problem does not occur with terminals 
directly attached to the machine, only those coming from another.
