This is a movie about (and by, I think) a group of Flamenco dancers preparing for a production of Carmen, and it becomes a Carmen within a Carmen, as the dancers literally take on the roles. The dancing was wonderful. It's a good example of how important the spirit is in the theatre world, either making or breaking a production, and I became jealous that this isn't true in our humdrm world of program production (tho there are worse fields in this respect). A good lesson in creativity. It was MUCH better than I'd expected from the revues I'd read. Still playing at the Royal in West L.A.
