I think your idea of sexism (against men) in "Terms of Endearment"
is interesting. A friend of mine told me that when she asked her
father what he thought of it, he said "it was about 2 women who
are totally inept at raising children." Personally, I thought it
made all the characters look inept at some time or another.

Reviews:

Racing with the Moon, Swing Shift: I love shmaltzy, romantic movies,
so I expected to like these, but I thought they were both pretty
empty. The lines and circumstances surrounding the romances in both
were so contrived, I found it irritating. My boyfriend loved Racing
with the Moon, though. I thought the characters in Racing were just
too sweet.

Android: I'm not too crazy about sci-fi movies because they're
usually based too much on special effects. This one, however, is
definitely not. It's not that it has bad special effects; it just
doesn't depend on them to make the movie interesting. It's about
a two-"man" research team in a spaceship/laboratory: an
android, Max, and his creator. The story surrounds 3 escaped
prisoners who take refuge in the lab ship, and their attempts to not
be captured by some galactic police. The plot was pretty skimpy,
since they tried to introduce you to the characters, develope a
story, and complete it in less than 1-1/2 hours, but I liked it
anyway. I got the distinct impression that this movie was a set-up
for more to come. I hope so.
Also, a marvelous short preceeded it, I think called Vincent, about
a small boy who keeps imagining himself to be Vincent Price in these
very macabre situations. It was very entertaining.

more later.......... anita
