Reliable UNIX PC for sale. This machine has served as Stargate.COM for years, and is configured for EMail and some Netnews. (Stargate.COM still exists, but it's now a 386 box.) It has a 40MB disk, 1.5MB RAM (1.0 on motherboard, .5MB on combo card), and 3 serial ports (1 native, 2 on combo card.) Comes with the world's most impressive box, probably worth $500 alone. (Seriously, this box was used to cart the machine around to trade shows, and is built like a trunk on wheels with lots of foam padding to fit.) Box will double as an end table in your basement. Also, second UNIX PC, needs work. Can be used for parts, or gotten to work for perhaps $300 of repairs. Same configuration. Problems with this second computer: Hard disk has non-media fault, won't spin up. Can probably repair for $200, or replace with any compatible hard disk, 40MB or other. Mouse stopped working, did not try to fix. (A UNIX PC is very easy to use without a mouse, so this is not critical.) Serial ports on combo board stopped working, have not looked at this, ports were spare anyway. This second system is ideal for a person comfortable with hardware, since I'll bet it's very easy to repair. Comes with regular AT&T cardboard box. :-( Make offer. o Unix PC o 1Mb RAM o Unix 3.51 upgrade with all original manuals o Spare monitor and 3b1 (full-height) case top o 85 Mb Micropolis 1325 disk (not installed) (top of the 13xx line, with manual) o Original slow, noisy, 10 Mb disk o Can download all the Unix PC archives and fixdisks if you don't have transfer capability from the net. This machine is essentially brand new - it only has about 200 hours on it!! i got it to replace my Stride 440 and then never found time to use it (cars took up all my free time). i loaded up 3.51, ran the machine in my office for a week or two to burn it in, took it home, and never turned it on again. (yeah, i know, what a waste!) i even bought the big disk with the intention of setting up a Usenet node at home. Hah! Anyway, the computer needs a home, and i need the money. First $1200, or best offer. i also have a Liberty terminal, model Freedom 200, that i'll toss in for an additional $50. *Fully* programmable keyboard, 2nd host/printer port, amber screen, room inside for an '030 SBC if you're the industrious type :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ U.S. Mail: Neville D. I have three different computer systems for sale. Please note that I have lowered the price of system #2 in response to the highly competetive market. I may also be willing to throw in a printer with system #1 or #2. Also please note that I am willing to hear offers. 1. AT&T 7300 UNIX-pc. Loaded system: 2.5 meg RAM, 67 Meg HD, graphics similar in resolution to a Hercules card, windowing , mouse, built-in 1200 baud modem, 2 extra serial ports (3 total). Software includes: complete development system, Smart Software (word processor, spreadsheet, database, etc), Electronic Mail (front end for uucp mail), GNU C compiler, GNU Emacs, MicroEmacs, tons of PD stuff. Includes complete set of manuals, including programmers man pages. *Added bonus*: hard to find Technical Reference Manual *and* Student Training Manual. Asking: $1400 - I am not interested in selling the Development Set or manuals alone. 2. AT clone. Hercules graphics, amber monitor, 1 Meg RAM, 20 Meg HD, whole bunch of software including MS-Windows, PageMaker 1.0, MS-Word, AutoCad (old version), Norton Utilities, Turbo C, MS Assembler, and lots of PD items. Very few manuals. There were very few manuals when I got the system. Asking: $1000 / reasonable offer There is a lot of useful software on the system. I may be persuaded to throw in a printer. 3. Mindset Video Production System. MS-DOS platform w/ special video section. 512x512 color graphics, mouse, digitizer, lots of software with manuals (includes animation), video mixer for blending images. You buy one power pack (to power the mixer) which was missing when I got the system. Includes a nice color monitor (Taxan Vision 210). Asking: $600 is a sacrifice. As best as I can tell, I believe these prices are reasonable. I am selling these to upgrade to a 386 that I can run UNIX and X-Windows on. Selling these systems at "bargain basement" prices will do me no good towards getting the 386, so please be aware that I don't have a lot of negotiating margin. I'll do what I can if you absolutely *must* counter offer, but, as I said, I have tried to ask prices that are reasonable when compared to other used prices I have recently seen. You can email me or call (408) 578-9145 [home] or (408) 366-4117 [work].
