[comp.sys.apple] X-10 Powerhouse software missing

jrt@MITRE-BEDFORD.ARPA (11/06/86)

Colin;

	I also have the X-10 controller hanging off my II-e. I use the
utility software (supplied with the controller) to effect real-time control of
several things in my home. The real-time commands are communicated to the
controller over the same cable one uses to "program" the controller for timed
events. I just leave the cable connected all the time. One can ( and I
have!) drop lots of bucks for the various X-10 modules but the overall effect
of being able to control everything from lights to your kids t.v. viewing
hours is fantastic! There are, however, well known problems which occur with
the X-10 system, e.g., falsing, controller location sensitivity, etc. You
might also look at Ciarcia's "Circuit Cellar" (either the stand-alone books or
old issues of "BYTE" for further home control articles. My II-e has been in
24 hour service doing home control with BSR devices for two (2) years now and
is doing fine!  Have fun....
