Hi, The article that inspired this appeared in "comp.sys.apple", but for some weird reason, our machine won't let us post in that group... The original videx 80-column adapter cards had the output on a little six pin header (with one pin removed for keying the direction of the corresponding plug) on the front upper edge of the card. Starting at the edge nearest the top of the computer case they are: 1. ground 2. video output (~1 v p-p composite video) 3. -5 volt output 4. +12 volt output 5. pin removed 6. light pen trigger input You can connect a monitor directly up the the video pin on the header. Videx also made a small autoswitch module that plugs into one of the 9334 IC sockets on the right hand side of the motherboard. The switch piggy-backed with the original IC and allowed the normal 40 column video to be automatically be switched witht the 80 column text on the same output wire. the ROM at U3 needs to have version 2.4 or greater software to support the autoswitch. With 2.4 software, the card also MUST be in slot #3.
