I've been trying to hook-up a //c to a RIXON intelligent modem, with very little luck, and I was hoping someone on the net could help me out. The software that I'm using is ASCII EXPRESS Version 4.2, and the setup seems to go ok. I've hooked up a cable between the modem and the //c as follows: //c DTE DIN-5 RS232 ----------------------------------- 1 (DTR) ------------> 6 (DSR) 2 (TXD) ------------> 3 (RXD) 3 (GND) ------------> 7 (GND) 4 (RXD) ------------> 2 (TXR) 5 (DSR) ------------> 20(DTR) Within AE I've set Permanent carrier to YES and Hayes Smartmodem installed to YES, because the RIXON modem emulates Hayes smartmodem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ..ihlpl!kaz Dan Johnson AT&T 1100 East Warenville Rd. Naperville Ill. 60566

The cable connector assignments should be as follows: //c DIN-5 RS232 --------------------- 1 DTR 20 2 TD 2 3 GND 7 4 RD 3 5 DSR 6 I successfully use AE with with a Hayes compatible smart-modem on a IIC - witness this posting!! -- ..ihnp4!ihlpa!terry2 **** Terry Nelson **** "All this is GEnie Mail: Terry2 * AT&T Bell Laboratories * because of me * Naperville, Illinois * and not my Keep It Warm.... ************************** employer!"
