[net.movies] Very Short SPINAL TAP review

moriarty@uw-june (Jeff Meyer) (04/28/84)

1) Very clever, often subtle humor which is increasingly funny with the
more concert films the viewer has seen. More delightful than hilarious, if
ya knows what I means.

2) Tons of very good comedy people doing TINY parts (Billy Crystal is on for
all of 5 seconds).

3) The characters are more than satircal stooges (Holy Ebert, Batman!);
towards the end, they have been drawn out so carefully, and with such fine
detail, that you really get to like 'em. A really nice ending.

4) However, if you feel like paying $4.50 for this, I would suggest that you
have SOME liking for hard rock music; if you can't stand the sound of it,
you'll have problems getting through this.

Spinal Tap. Don't see it. If it comes on HBO watch the love boat.

C'mon now! What kind of review is this? Or were you just
interested in seeing your name on the net??

Could you provide details on why you thought it was so bad??
(Worse than the "Love Boat"?!?!)

Most people I've run into who didn't like Spinal Tap didn't like it
precisely because it hit too close to home ("Hey, man, like rock music
isn't like that, man, I mean, like they're making fun of like, artists,
man...")

Needless to say, this has made me want to see it even more. (Haven't yet...)
Most reviews from a wide variety of people have been favorable.
