[comp.sys.apple] AE xmodem

This is in reference to my recent query about AE Pro's xmodem talking to
a Multics system. Managed to get it work after someone reminded me that
Telenet (not Telnet) is normally in 7-bit mode, so had to put some set
commands in before connecting to get it into 8-bit mode. The only other
problem then was that AE Pro of course takes the file exactly as is,
i.e., in Apple's hi-bit-on form, which the receiving system didn't like.
(received OK, just that none of "those" characters were printable --
came out only as their octal equivalents). Found the chforum utility on
the AE Pro disk to turn DOS format into CP/M; don't know what CP/M is
but that did the trick.

Yet further info on my AE xmodem prolem (?) -- turns out I can receive
any length file OK, but I can only send a file less than 16 blocks -- my
guess is it has something to do with the request for next block coming
in while the Apple is reading the next one off the disk.

But that should work anyway ...
