[comp.sys.apple] ProDOS maximum volume size

EWING@TRINCC.BITNET.UUCP (03/09/87)

In ProDOS-16, the effective restriction on volume sizes has been
effectively removed. Back when Apple designed SOS and ProDOS, a
32 megabyte volume limit was considered extremely generous and
it did not seem that it would need to be expanded for several years.
Wll, time hath caught up with us sooner than we think, and with the
advent of volumunous hard disks, and giant 550K CD-ROMS and 800K WORM
optical storage drives, the new ProDOS-16 has been designed to be able
to address all the available space of these devices without partitioning.
So to answer your question, the larger Apple-made hard drives (or
anyone else's) will work just fine without chopping it up on the new
ProDOS.
