I just upgraded my Apple IIgs Memory Expansion Card from 512K to 1 Meg by adding chips that I ordered from the A.P.P.L.E. Co-op. These chips seem to work just fine and they are considerably cheaper than buying them from Apple. I paid $32.00 per set of 8 chips (order code HCHIP8). I did buy my first 256K expansion set from Apple, and it included the 2 jumper blocks needed if you expand to 1 Meg. I imagine that you can probably get the jumper blocks elsewhere. I have no financial interest in A.P.P.L.E. Co-op other than being a member. Just thought others might want to know that these chips really do work (when I called them, they were not absolutely sure, but said I could return them if they did not work).

Interesting -- when I wanted to upgrade my card I went to a local electronics shop and bought what was supposed to be the same part number (whatever it was.) THEY DID NOT WORK and I ended up getting them from the dealer after all (was able to return most of the chips, but ended up paying more than had I just gone to the dealer first.)

Might I inquire as to the type of RAM chip used in the upgrade..ie its name/number. I have been mulling over the idea of expanding memory for sometime and thought perhaps I could do it cheaper than Apple or AE's gsRAM.
