[comp.sys.apple] ASCII Express MouseTalk UPGRADE!

bblue@pnet01.cts.COM.UUCP (04/03/87)

Following is a list of features added and fixes performed to
ASCII Express MouseTalk version 1.20, creating version 1.30.
Release date 3/25/87.

ADDITIONS:

o Full support of the Hayes MicroModem ][ and //e, TranSend ModemCard
and Novation Apple CAT, including 212a card and TouchTone dialing is now
included.

o MouseTalk now automatically recognizes multi-speed machines and
various speed up cards and automatically adjusts internally. Nothing
needs to be user specified.

o MouseTalk knows of modems that have extended result codes such
that BUSY and NO DIALTONE results will be handled appropriately.

o It now supports various parallel printer cards including VersaCard
Tymac, and Grappler.

o MouseTalk now works properly with and has an installation selection
for the Laser 128 computer.

FIXES:

o The slot 7 mouse in a new Apple //c is now properly recognized.

o When using the Apple GS with a serial interface card (not the
built-in port), receive interrupts are now turned off to prevent the
program from crashing when run. There are still a couple of cards on
which interrupts cannot be completely disabled. Under these
circumstances, it still may crash. Nothing more can be done in software
for this version.

o The contents of /RAM in an Apple //e of greater than 128k are no
longer destroyed when passing from MouseTalk to Install. However, /RAM
is still not acknowledged or usable in this configuration, except with
ram cards that a) do not use the AUX memory bank, and b) are not
installed in slot 3.

o Combination thumb and cursor-key movement through the editor and
review buffers no longer crash the program.

o Protocol transfers with CompuServe now works properly. It is no
longer necessary to turn off Flow Control during these transfers.

o Standard Send no longer requires the user to enter an initial c/r to
begin the transfer.

o It is now possible to handshake on a ! character in a macro. To
indicate a single ! in a handshake string, enter !!.

o At the conclusion of a local (not remote) protocol file transfer, a
single beep now accompanies the Transfer Complete box.

o It was previously possible, by not following directions, to
inadvertently format your hard disk while in MouseTalk's installation
program, by repeatedly entering RETURN instead of CLOSED APPLE in
response to various questions. This is now no longer possible.
Additionally, the text which explains this process (and pops up if you
don't have a mouse) has been clarified and emphasized as to how to
proceed.

o Upward scrolling through review buffer with cursor keys would crash
at top of buffer.

o Now properly handles duplicate filenames and volume names. Selecting
either of a pair of duplicate names will get you whichever file or
volume ProDOS finds first. The other will be inaccesible from
MouseTalk.

o The editor FILL function would occasionally miss parts of the buffer.

o Any control character can now be entered into the here-is box.

o Previously, under macro control, setting a Receive To File name would
result in a blank file in the root directory with the real file
appearing in the correct path. The erroneous blank file is now gone.

o Attempting to save a text file to the same name as a session file
will now beep and return, disallowing the save. No other visual warning
is given at this time.

o Find Next is no longer available if Find is dimmed.
