[comp.sys.apple] Slotted //c???

SEWALL@UCONNVM.BITNET (04/23/87)

I missed something somewhere. What do you know about a "new,
slotted //c?" The only slotted //c I know of is the Laser 128
clone. While a //e AppleTalk board presumably will work in the
Laser (possibly to Apple's chagrin), I haven't seen any announcements
of AppleTalk support for the //c.n

The Apple //c's produced in the last few months have a slot for a memory
card that is like the 1 meg RAM card for the //e. It can be used as a
RAM disk or as expansion RAM for Appleworks 1.3 or higher. Apple moved
the mouse ROM to slot 7 and the RAM card ROM to slot 4 for this. It is
not a standard //e type slot but a special one for this RAM card. If you
buy the card you get a motherboard upgrade free for older //c's. I think the
new //c's with the slot have platinum keyboards instead of beige.

=============================================================
the //c is now manufactured with a memory expansion slot....
older //c's can be upgraded upon purchasing an apple memory board
or purchasing an 800K drive...
