My techie friends at the local H.U.G.E. Apple Club (E. Hartford) tell me that there are a few Apple cards that won't work in a IIgs. One of them did say why, but I didn't store the details (surely one of the hardware oriented IIgs types on the net can come up with the reason). Alas, the Grappler is one of the cards that won't work on the gs. As I recall it has something to do with a change in the way interrupts work (are defined) in the IIgs firmware. In and around Connecticut, the best place to call for help with such problems is Computer Resources 563-9000. Ask for Dan (he's there the most often and is the fastest soldering iron in New England), Chuck Lana (he's had his gs for 14 MONTHS - he's an Apple beta tester who's had a Mac II since last November), or George Carbonell (a part-time Apple II fixer who'll do if Dan or Chuck isn't there).

Well, my Grappler+ works just fine in my IIgs. I've got it attached to an Epson LX-80 and have been using it extensively for paper-writing of late. No problems here. Lester McCann University of Wisconsin CS Dept.
