[comp.sys.apple] 6502 -> 65C02

LYMAN@IASSNS.BITNET (04/28/87)

In January, I believe, I inquired about the possibility/advisability of
swapping my 6502 in my 64K ][+ for a 65C02. Given the low price of the
65C02, I decided to settle the question in my own mind: I swapped 'em.

The result... chaos! While I got some intelligence, none of my software
from my 3.3 master to Prodos, to Softerm II, would run. All sort of booted
but either displayed garbage, dumped me in the monitor, or otherwise
aborted. In the absence of other information, my conclusion is, the swap
doesn't work.

Pending more information, I am putting my next experiment on hold... the 65802.

You evidently have a //+ with the timing problem. I doesn't show up in
the 6502 because i performs above spec (as I understand theproblem).
I've heard hat the Rockwell versionf the 65C02 performs well on the //+
because i performsabove specs. You might want to get one of these chips
rather than the NCR or GTE versions.
