could the reason that the printer never gets the CHR$(9) be that the printer interface card wants the character??? Mine (Grappler+) wants to know the character width when it sees a ctrl-I. Yeah, the interface cards on an apple ][ can subject you to some heavy interference on some characters. I had some real trouble sneaking tab characters through the old serial printer card. The Super Serial card can be put into a "transparent mode" and we finally had to go to those. Heff
