I tried to send to Mr. Hayes directly but had the same problem I've had every other time I've tried to send to him. It gets send back!!! Anyway, this is for Jim Hayes... From: CANAL::SJDMK "Steven J. Dawson" 5-MAY-1987 17:12 To: Orig_To! hayes@ucsd.ucsd.edu, SJDMK Subj: DCOM survey... I'm looking forward to version 3.4. Having a way to transfer files will be a big help. The thing that would be an even greater help is if you would fix it so that we could use the VAX EDT editor. Like I said, if you press the keys too fast, garbage appears. For that reason, I rarely use DCOM. It is also because of this that I haven't become a registered owner by sending in the fair amount of $25 (I think). As for who uses DCOM and where, I'm a student at the University of New Orleans. Major: Business Administration. Minor: Computer Science. As for suggestions, I would like to see you include a version of the Kermit file transfer protocol. Ted Medin modified it so that it would work with ProDOS. That would be great if you could get together with him on that. One other thing that would be nice is if you had a way of putting in a few phone numbers and then all you had to do is use the arrow keys to point to the one you want. While I'm at it, login macros would be nice. As for the idea of Shareware, I'm not too crazy about it. If you write a good enough program, which I think you have, you should just go ahead and charge people. That's all for me. I hope this helps with whatever questions you are trying to answer. As soon as you get the thing fixed to work with EDT, let us know. I would love to be able to use DCOM all the time. Thanks, Steve Steven J.
