Apple IIGS Memory Expansion Cards: Specs and list of RAM chips The RAM chips on the memory expansion card for the IIGS must be 150ns chips of 256K bits organized in 256K by 1 bit; they also must have CAS before RAS refresh. Unless the RAM chips on the expansion board conform to these specifications, the IIGS will not work. The RAMs used on the main board are 64K x 4. Applied Engineering has published a list of compatible parts and their vendors for the RAM used on their RAM card for the IIGS. It's important to remember that not all of Applied Engineering's cards will work: the RamWorks II card, for instance, is incompatible with the Apple IIGS, whereas the Ram Factor and the GS Ram Card by Applied Engineering are reported to work properly. Apple will not at this time be making public the list of approved manufacturers for RAM chips in the Apple IIGS Memory Expansion Card. A seperate source should be locatable with the above specifications for RAM on the Apple IIGS Memory Expansion Card. Apple Technical Communications
