[comp.sys.apple] PCPI CP/M and peripherals...

sherin@linc.cis.upenn.edu (Steve Sherin) (05/18/87)

I have Franklin's version of CP/M. The hardware is made by
PCPI, and I've read that it's ALMOST the same as the card for
the Apple //e.

I have a few questions about interfacing the card.

1) Has anyone installed MEX, IMP, etc. for a PCPI card?
->I'd like a copy of the overlays.

2) Has anyone set up a Saturn-type 128K expansion card? The
CP/M drivers that it came with don't work for this CP/M.

3) (tricky) Does someone know how to access the graphics screen
in programs? (It is possible, since there is a 70-column display
built in for those without 80-col. cards.)

4) Could someone tell me how to set up a driver routine?
(This system comes with special driver inserters and no
sysgen.)

	Thanks!
	Steve

Reference your questions regarding the PCPI Applicard and peripherals:
Various overlays for MEX are available for the Applicard in SIMTEL20
archives, MXH-AP55.ASM, MXH-AP60 or 61.ASM come to mind. What you will
need depends on your modem. AP55 and AP60/61 (note AP60/61) is not in
the identical historical sequence as AP55 .. I think in fact it is MXO
-AP60.
The Saturn type 128K RAM card is supported with a driver (though the
PCPI piggy back cards for the Applicard are a better bet). A driver
can be obtained from PCPI as part #A114. I believe that the cost is $15.
There is also a PD driver which is available from Information Centre
RCP/M, Ottawa at (613) 952-2289. If you are interested I will find out
the file name.
Graphics support is available from file PCPIGRFX.LBR on SIMTEL20.
A graphics package is also available from LMM Computing (Tom Blahovici),
1550, Barre St., St. Laurent, Quebec, Canada. (514) 748-9192. Cost in
Canada is $29.95
I don't completely understand your question 4. INSTALL is the utility
which installs the Drivers. If you wish to write a driver there are examples
with the PCPI software (CDEXAMPL.A65, a character driver and BDEXAMPL.A65, a
block device (disk) driver). There is a OEM package available from PCPI
for $50. If you seriously want to use this card you shouls also make sure
that you have the V2.0 software (upgrade package from PCPI $50).
PCPI current address is Personal Computer Products Inc
                            11590, West Bernado Court,
                            San Diego,
                            CA 92127.
   I hope this helps
