I liked both the humor and the punching power of your diatribe against the C language. I know what you mean about the "machismo" you refer to --- lots of people feel like part of an in-group if they know an arcane language that provides expressive power to those who do a two-year daily devotional by practicing even when they haven't a real program to write (you know, something that REALLY needs to be done). Also liked your line of sample C code. And it doesn't surprise me in the least that it came from an "instructional" book. Who's their intended audience --- those who have nothing better to do with their memory? John Perry
