APPLEWORKS PROBLEM: I was recently using Appleworks 1.2 when suddenly the system crashed and I was kicked out of the program and into the monitor. This crash occurred while I was saving a file to disk. I tried using Beagle Brothers tip patch to recover the system and it almost worked. I had the menue back but could not access the drives in any fashion. The bad part is that just before the crash occurred a new file header had partially been written to disk. This new file was only 1k instead of the original 27k. Using Copy II+ I checked the disk and the old and very valuable data was still there. This data was also still in the computer but I could not see it, print it, or write it to disk. Now for the help........ How can I recover this data from the disk? Can the disk be reconstructed? I would even be willing to manually strip the data from the disk using an editor but Appleworks stores the data in an interesting format. Does anyone out there know how to read Appleworks SPREADSHEET file code from the disk? I can read the TEXT portion very easy using Copy II+ but the numeric data (50% of total data) is not so easy. Any help would be greatly appreciated........help me!!!!! please burkett@csd4.milw.wis.edu

I have a copy of Apple's spec for all three file types under Appleworks. If you send a USPS type address, I will mail a copy to you as it is too much to retype. Cheers, Bud Huber
