I haven't seen too much discussion on the subject of hard disks for the Apple II line. I have a IIgs with one 3 1/2" and one 5 1/4" drive, and I'm finding that I really more storage space. Current thinking seems to be that SCSI is the way to go for hard disks, so I'm looking for any and all opinions on SCSI drives for the IIgs in particular and the II line in general. If get sufficient response, I'll post a summary to the net. Many thanks. Lester McCann University of Wisconsin CS Dept. g-mccann@gumby.wisc.edu ...!uwvax!gumby!g-mccann

Re Apple SCSI drives for the GS: beware of ROM versions on the Apple card. I have been having an incredible (read horrible) time over the past 2.5 months with I/O errors, only to find out that REV B is the current SCSI ROM release. My dealer has been supporting me in resolving this problem, but Apple's tech support (?) is el-stinko. We (the dealer and me) must have almost 50 hours of diagnostics and a lot of frustration and damaged data sets under the bridge. Then we were told late last Friday, in a very casual manner, "Oh, by the way You are using the latest ROMs, aren't you!" Do I sound bitter? Bud Huber
