I wish to add a 3.5" floppy drive to my IIe, but I haven't the $399+tax for Apple's 'Apple 3.5'. I could spend maybe $200 on this. As I see it my options are: (a) Buy an inexpensive Apple 3.5 workalike on the market (b) "Roll my own" Apple 3.5 workalike from a bare 1 Mbyte drive I have found no one advertising an Apple 3.5 workalike for any price--although many 800k Mac drives are in evidence. 1 Mbyte 3.5" drives are there to be found: the cheapest is a Panasonic JU393 for $99.95 from Computer Parts Galore. But how does one go about building an Apple 3.5 workalike from a bare drive? I need more information on this problem. If anyone could suggest avenues of investigation or an available product meeting my needs please feel free to email me. John Turner UUCP: john@l5comp "Get a life!" -W. Shatner
