[net.movies] Review of Breakin'

Last Saturday night, I had the unfortunate experience of seeing
"Breakin". Truly one of the worst movies ever made, it is rivaled only
by such classics as "Plan Nine from Outer Space."
This is a so called "dance-movie." And although there was some
good dancing, it did not make up for the wooden acting, cheap sets,
horrendous script, rotten direction and bad camera work. Even the dance
scenes were filmed badly and often the camera missed entire dance sequences.
The "story" is about a young woman jazz dancer who is lured to do
Break Dancing with "street people". In the end the heroes are accepted by
the dancing establishment and they go on to become stars. By the way that
wasn't a spoiler since the ending was telegraphed from the start.
The audience that I saw this movie with (in Chicago) was constantly
groaning and laughing with disgust. It is quite astounding that we didn't
tear the theater apart in anger or at least demand a refund ( I suppose this
review is helping me vent some of my feelings).
Obviously, I would recommend having the flu over seeing this movie,
but for those of you who still insist on seeing it, you'll be happy to know
that at the end of the movie, "Breakin Part II" was announced.
