[net.movies] Hitch in "Harry"

I realize that this is a little late but it took me a while
to check my source.

When the net last left the subject of Hitchcock's appearance in
"The Trouble With Harry" it seemed to be lacking a concensus.

The last chapter of the book "The Films of Alfred Hitchcock" by Harris
and Lasky is titled "The Master Revealed" and tells just where Hitch
appeared in all of his films. The entry under "Harry" says: "Walks past
John Forsythe's outdoor exhibition."

Never having seen the film, I can't expand on this but I'm sure it makes
sense to those who have.

In that case, where does Hitchcock appear (if at all) in *Rope*?

Just saw this one last weekend, and I'd rank the three I've seen
so far as *Rear Window*, *Rope*, and *Vertigo*. *Vertigo* was a real
disappointment for me: I'd been hearing for years how great it was,
but the second half just didn't seem to work, and the ending was
silly. *Rear Window* was great, good characters, nice suspense,
neat set -- something I'll definitely go see again some day.
*Rope* also had a nice feel to it. Looking forward to the other two.

In "Rope" there was a red neon light in the background (outside the window)
which was a profile of Hitchcock. I went to see it with some friends and
we had a discussion about it. Later we read a review in the paper which
revealed that Dave was right and it was the light.

In ROPE, Hitch appears during the opening credits walking down the sidewalk
outside. As far as I know, in only "The Wrong Man" does he appear sooner
in one of his movies (he introduces The Wrong Man, thereby apearing before
the movie starts).
