Does anyone have experience getting kermit to talk through a prometheus versacard? For that matter does anyone have any experience getting the versacard serial port to talk under dos 3.3 or prodos? I know that the port works, as apple pascal can use it just fine, but it seems dead under dos 3.3 and prodos no matter what I try. I have an apple ][+ if this makes and difference. Please reply via mail, as I don't normally read this group. Bill Hansen billh@teklim.LIM.TEK.COM

I don't know how you're trying to use the modem from Basic, but chances are that it won't work exactly the same as a Super Serial card. (in#2 works OK) I don't believe that Apple kermit supports a 'Pascal' driver like DCOM does. [DCOM worked right away with the Apple //GS] If the VersaCard works with Pascal, then it probably follows the Pascal 1.1 Firmware Protocol. This protocol standardizes how to initialize, send and receive data from the card. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to standardize how to send the 'break' signal which is often required in data communications applications. [Anyone (especally from Apple): please let me know if this is otherwise. Maybe this is what the recently added 'control' entry points are for? I'd be happy to recode the firmware ROM on my VersaCard to follow the latest revision of the Firmware protocol, but not if it won't help anything.]

Send your name and address to Dick Atlee (his BITNET address is ATLEE@UMDC) and promise to return a blank disk. He's got a version of Apple ][ Kermit (DOS 3.3 only) that supports the Prometheus lano.ay;lat
