Just thought I'd send you a copy of some mail I received regardiing my original proposal for a comp.sources.apple newsgroup - I think we need it - here's what Larry Virden has to say: From hoptoad!ptsfa!ihnp4!cbosgd!cbdkc1!cbcsta!n8emr!lwv Thu Jul 30 06:50:13 1987 Received: by dasys1.UUCP (anilla/UUCP-Project/rel-1.0/11-05-86) id AA16345; Thu, 30 Jul 87 06:50:11 EDT Received: by hoptoad.uucp (3.2/SMI-3.2) id AA05939; Thu, 30 Jul 87 03:45:24 PDT Date: Thu, 30 Jul 87 03:45:24 PDT Message-Id: <8707301045.AA05939@hoptoad.uucp> From: hoptoad!ihnp4!cbosgd!cbdkc1!cbcsta!n8emr!lwv Received: by ihnp4.ATT.COM id AA10748; 30 Jul 87 00:15:34 CDT (Thu) Received: by cbosgd.MIS.OH.ATT.COM (smail2.1) id AA15500; 29 Jul 87 18:56:15 EDT (Wed) To: cbcsta!cbdkc1!cbosgd!ihnp4!ptsfa!hoptoad!dasys1!patth Subject: Re: Apple II forever? Newsgroups: comp.sys.apple In-Reply-To: <907@dasys1.UUCP> References: <8707111622.aa01579@SMOKE.BRL.ARPA> Organization: N8EMR's Ham BBS (HBBS), Columbus,Ohio Cc: Status: R I am not sure about all ofthe reasons, but I CE TAINLY know that there are Apple Reps on CIS. Perhaps they are too busy there to spend hours every day on Usenet as well? Seriously, my guess is that Apple sees that info-apple, comp.sys.apple is really a joke - there is seldom any software developers here and hardly any REAL tough questions and almost never any source/binaries. Once we are 'legit' by showing that we have some real needs here THAT CANNOT BE SERVICED on the Source, Genie, or CIS, then perhaps we will get someone from Apple to monitor this group as well. As an example of the 'joke' of this group, note that I often see stuff that is strictly mac here, I have seen ProDos questions on the Mac only group(!) and have not seen many msgs arrive here in the last 6 months that were not "I want that too", "Please add/remove me from your mailing list", or "Please start a binaries/sources group". None of these are very useful... -- Larry W.
