The track on a DOS 3.3 floppy on which the catalog resides is trashed, although the other tracks are ok. Is there a way to either reconstruct the catalog, or at least copy the files onto another diskette? Bryan Yamamoto Yamamoto.osbunorth@Xerox.com

Yes, it's possible to recover file from a trashed directory. Certain programs, like Lifesaver, do this automatically. However, to do so manually requires a lot more time & effort. I recommend _Beneath Apple DOS_ as a guide to reconstructing the VTOC. Please reply via e-mail instead of the net. Hmmm. I have an Applesoft program someone gave me called LFR. it does good on that sort of thing (reconstructing directories, ect). Check on the "PD-ness" of it. Bag of Trix will do it also. I'll see if LFR is PD, or if you can get it. John Langbein P.S. Anyone got some old "Muse" software they'd like to get rid of?

can we get LFR?
