I am looking for an accelerator card for my Apple and am specifically interested in the Transwarp accel. card by Applied Engineering. I already own various of there peripherals without problems of any kind (tech support, defective product, etc.) I own an enhanced Apple //e and intend on using it in my only available slot; slot 3. I understand from the advertisement that it does, in fact, work in slot 3. Any advice from anybody on this product or other recommendations for accelerator cards for the apple //e would be greatly appreciated. -- Peter Godwin | ...ihnp4!gargoyle!sphinx!god3 Univ. of Chicago Comp Ctr | x9.xpg@uchicago 5335 S. I am using AE's TRANSWARP on both enhanced and unenhanced ][e. It does a fine job. In two instances, the original power supply was adequate in a fully loaded machine, but in a third, a new (AE) power supply was needed. ****DISCLAMER: My comments, etc., are my own shakey opinions ******** | Bruce P. I've had experience with the AE Transwarp. As with all other AE products, this is a high-quality product (and I am NOT in any way affiliated with AE). IT behaves just as advertised. It works fine in slot 3, even when you have something in the auxiliary slot as well. Basically, it's transparent to everything that won't specifically address it. In addition to speeding up your Apple (except for drive access), you can also program your own version of Apple's ROM ($D000-$FFFF) into Transwarp's RAM and substitute it for the normal ROM. You can also select the default speed of the card. In all, it really speeds up applications a LOT -- the only time you wouldn't like this is when playing arcade games with sensitive controls (it's WAY too fast!).
