The tech sheets of the 65816 mention a forthcoming "65832" processor pin compatible with the current 65816 that will include 32 bit math and other goodies. However, when I asked IIgs engineeres about this chip, they replied that is was "A figment of Bill Mensch's [65816 designer] imagination". Obviously, they didn't see that it was going to be built for whatever reasons that were not explained to me. Of course, this statement was made last September, Apple does now have its Cray-XMP online, and things do change, so who knows? --Richard Ewing EWING@YALEVM.Bitnet
