I seem to have seen something recently on this net about the
KYOCERA KM1200 modem.
It is advertized by C.O.M.B. in adds for $79; they say list price
is about $300.
I would like to know anyone's experience with this modem for use with
Apple //e's. I plan to use it with the Softerm II communications
package, which does not support this modem. Does this Kyocera modem
emulate some other well-known modem, so the attributes for could be
substituted?

I bought the Koycera KM1200S from COMB and have been well pleased with it.
I have it hooked up to a Microtek SV622c that I have installed a jumper on
to enable inturrupts. I've run kermit, mousetalk, tic, etc. on it and it
seems to work just fine.
It is not 100% hayes 'AT' compatible, but it is close enough for most
applications.
If you have any other specific questions about it, I have the manual
sitting right here, and several hours worth of experience under my
belt, so go ahead and ask. (Including questions about pinouts if you
want: I built my own cable for it: standard RS232c female on the back)
take care,
-Bri
